WWBA Radio To Host Radiothon For New Fisher House

WWBA radio is partnering with Fisher House Foundation to host a radiothon to raise money for a new Fisher House at the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital in Tampa.

The Fisher House Foundation provides comfort homes for families of patients receiving medical care at majority military and VA medical centers.

“We are so grateful for WWBA, and their listening community,” said Dave Coker, President of Fisher House Foundation. “Not only do we greatly appreciate the funds raised, but we also appreciate the visibility we will get throughout the Tampa area.”

There are 73 Fisher Houses across the country, Germany, and the United Kingdom and on any given night nearly 1,000 families stay at a Fisher House. Since the start, the foundation has provided more than seven million nights of lodging to families.

“With the large military population throughout Florida and particularly here in Tampa Bay, we are delighted to help with this very worthwhile cause,” said Steve Kyler, VP of Content, at WWBA. “Fisher House has proven over the years to assist military families with great integrity from the leadership of the foundation. Our team at WWBA and News Talk Florida are grateful to this fine organization. We look forward to an outstanding response from so many or our audience and consumers throughout our radio, web publications and social media platforms.”
The radiothon will take place on December 28 on WWBA with all funds going towards a second Fisher House at the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital. The 16-suite home will augment the 20-suite home that is currently there, and that is continually at capacity with a waiting list.
“Fisher House Foundation can’t do what we do alone,” said Coker. “The fact that thousands of Americans contributed to making these dreams possible is something all of us should be proud of. Americans do care. And what better time to show that than during the holiday season.
