Weekend Things To Do: Tampa

Summer is coming to an end but that doesn’t mean weekends should be boring. There are a lot of things going on this weekend in Tampa for everyone to enjoy.

Back To School: The school year is right around the corner. This weekend will be another tax-free holiday in anticipation of school supply shopping. Westshore Plaza will be hosting a Back to School Fair on Saturday that will include workshops, exhibits and speakers for parents. There will also be live entertainment and activities for kids. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the first 500 kids will receive a free book bag.

Bolts Brew Fest: Adults can have some fun of their own this weekend. The Bolts Brew Fest will take place at Amalie Arena on Saturday and beer fans cam come sample 100 different craft beers from more than 50 local and national breweries. The event starts at 7 p.m. at 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa. VIP is already sold out but general admission can be purchased for $50 advance or $60 day of. Metrocon: Anime fans will be happy for metrocon to come to town. Fans of Speed Racer or Sailor Moon will get to enjoy Metrocon, which focuses on the flashy Japanese animation and artwork. The event runs today through Sunday and covers all aspects of anime including videos, pop music and games like Pokémon. There will be a fire show each nights and there will be an Anime Human Chess Match on Saturday. The event runs from noon to midnight today and Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Great Brain Wash: Enjoy a work out while making it fun. The Straub Park will be turned into a 5K foam pit with slip-n-slides and numerous water obstacles for the Great Brain Wash, which benefits the Brain Tumor Alliance.
