Hillsborough Schools Seek New Buses

Hillsborough County public school officials are talking money today—how to spend it and how to save it.

Superintendent Jeff Eakins is asking the board to approve $20 million for 200 new school buses.

Right now, Hillsborough has one of the oldest fleets in the state.

Eakins also wants a Texas firm to audit the district and find ways to spend money more efficiently.

That after word that half the district’s reserve fund has been depleted in the past four years–most of it on teacher raises.
