Longboat Key Double Murderer Captured

Authorities have announced an arrest in the murders of two employees at a Longboat Key resort six days ago.

Officials say it was Darryl Hanna, Jr, 29, who shot and killed the night manager and security guard at the Zota Beach Resort on Gulf of Mexico Drive.

It turns out Hanna had just resigned from his position as a security guard at the property when he robbed the front desk of $900 and killed 51 year old Timothy Hurley and 59 year old Kevin Carter on the way out the door.

There is no word why Hanna killed the two men when he had the money and a clean getaway. Hanna was arrested Wednesday night at a Bradenton home.

He has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder and one count of armed robbery and is being held at the Manatee County jail without bail. The arrest ends a six-day manhunt.
