Polk School Super Resigns Amid Controversy

(UPDATE 4 p.m.)   Polk County School Superintendent Kathryn LeRoy has resigned, hours before the board was to vote on whether to fire her.

Earlier:

Polk County School Superintendent Kathryn LeRoy will learn later today whether she still has a job.

The school board has scheduled a vote on whether to fire LeRoy even though she was cleared of wrongdoing in a sexual harassment investigation done after numerous complaints by Associate Superintendent Greg Rivers.

At least one board member, Lynn Wilson, says she has lost confidence in LeRoy’s ability to keep leading the school system.

LeRoy has apologized to the board and says she wants to stay.

The vote is at 5 Friday afternoon.
