LONDON (AP) — Britons may have voted to check out, but they can’t leave the European Union just yet. EU leaders say that Britain will remain a member until its exit negotiations are concluded, which could take two years or more. French President Francois Hollande says he profoundly regrets the British vote. British Prime Minister David Cameron has resigned. The exit from the EU also sent global markets tumbling. Stock markets and oil prices crashing and the pound hitting its lowest level in three decades.

AYRSHIRE, Scotland (AP) — Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump predicts Britain won’t be the last country to exit the European Union. Visiting Scotland the day after the British vote, Trump hailed the result, saying voters “took back their country.” Trump’s reason for his trip to Europe wasn’t politics, but rather to see his remodeled Turnberry golf resort.

Hillary Clinton kept separate calendars as secretary of state. An AP review finds Clinton kept one for public consumption and historical archives, but another that included scores of meetings with political donors and loyalists, Wall Street bankers, Clinton Foundation contributors and other outside interests.

President Obama continues to tussle with the Supreme Court. The high court’s deadlock on immigration policy adds another chapter to the president’s turbulent history with it and delivers a reminder that there’s more to come.

How will the court’s lack of decision affect immigrants? Those living in the U.S. without legal authorization and their advocates are deeply disappointed, but they’re also resolved that this isn’t the end of the fight.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Florida Gov. Rick Scott is ordering the state to spend millions to battle mosquitoes and prepare for the Zika virus. Scott on Thursday used his emergency powers to authorize spending up to $26.2 million on everything from killing mosquitoes to the purchase of Zika prevention kits. The Florida Department of Health will send the money to counties and mosquito districts. The Republican governor has been calling on the federal government approve a $1.9 billion package to fight Zika. The House this week approved a $1.1 billion measure, but President Barack Obama is threatening to veto the legislation. Scott said in a statement that Florida can no longer afford to wait on help from Washington. Florida currently has more than 200 cases of Zika virus, including 40 pregnant women. All of the cases involve residents infected outside the country.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The owner of the Pulse nightclub says she has made no decisions about the future of the gay club where 49 patrons were massacred by a gunman. But Barbara Poma says there definitely is a future for the nightclub. Poma says it’s premature to say what, when or how the future will play out for the nightclub.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — About two dozen media organizations including The Associated Press, CNN and The New York Times filed a lawsuit Thursday seeking disclosure of city of Orlando phone recordings stemming from the Pulse nightclub shooting. The city, meanwhile, claimed in its own court filing that the recordings are exempt under Florida public records law and that the FBI insists releasing them may disrupt the ongoing investigation. The media lawsuit contends city officials are wrongly withholding recordings of dozens of 911 calls as well as communications between gunman Omar Mateen and the Orlando Police Department. Mateen was killed by police early June 12 after a lengthy standoff in a mass shooting that killed 49 people and wounded 53 others.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – Records released by Florida wildlife officials say 240 nuisance alligators have been trapped on Walt Disney World property over the past decade. On Wednesday, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials also said they’re “confident” they’ve caught the alligator that killed 2-year-old Nebraska boy Lane Graves outside Disney’s upscale Grand Floridian Resort last week. The agency listed 15 alligators caught on Disney property from the beginning of this year through May. It didn’t include the six trapped since the June 14 attack and it didn’t specify where the gators were captured. Last year, 16 gators were captured on Disney property. Statewide, 6,706 alligators were harvested in 2014, the most recent year reflected in the agency’s statistics.

GULFPORT, Fla. (AP) — A Tampa Bay area man has been charged with setting a fire that killed 10 exotic birds and two cats. 51-year-old Thomas L. Bennett was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree arson and animal cruelty. The State Fire Marshal’s office investigated the June 3 blaze. It caused about $80,000 in damage to the Gulfport home. Investigators say Bennett had argued with a woman inside his house before dousing the garage in gasoline and lighter fluid and lighting it on fire. Authorities say he then tried to use a propane blow torch in the living room to set the carpet and furniture on fire.
