South Florida Restaurants Ordered Shut Down Due To Complaints

Complaints Led To Investigations That Ordered Four Restaurants To Be Shut Down

Recent complaints filed to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation sparked an investigation that shut down four South Florida restaurants, said state records.

There were three unannounced inspections leading to the shut downs. One of those restaurants were a Golden Coral in Florida City that had a roach issue inside the restaurant.

At Saintamise Louis in Pompano Beach there was a rodent issue.

All of the restaurants were ordered to shut down, but are allowed to reopen following an ordered clean-up and re-inspection.

An inspection based on complaint with 14 violations found and was ordered to shut down Jan. 17.

 

 

“Rodent activity present as evidenced by rodent droppings found. Observed dry rodent droppings in the following areas. Observed approximately 35 to 40 dry droppings inside closed cabinet under grill area at cook line, 10 to 12 on top of water heater in cook line corner. Observed approximately 45 to 50 dry droppings in closed upstairs storeroom on stainless steel table, floor and inside pans on floor. Observed approximately 35 to 40 dry droppings on carpeted stairway leading to storeroom and approximately 25 to 30 on top of wall juncture, seen from stairway.”

“Rodent rub marks present along walls/ceilings. Along electrical pipes at back of kitchen near walk in cooler.”

“Build-up of food debris, dust or dirt on nonfood-contact surface. Inside drip pan at oven and bottom inside of oven.”

“Build-up of grease on nonfood-contact surface. On pipes behind cook line and fryer.”

“Cleaned and sanitized equipment or utensils not properly stored. Pans on floor in upstairs storeroom.”

“Accumulation of food debris/grease on food-contact surface. On stockpots with oil inside used for cooking stored inside oven.”

Gou Lakay Restaurant and Bakery at 2027 N. Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach was ordered to shut on Jan. 17 due to 14 violations.

 

“Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. Observed approximately 8 live roaches behind fire extinguisher sign above hand wash sink at west entrance to kitchen, 2 on wall same area, 4 under shelf in storeroom next to west entrance, 4 next to unused bakery oven in center of kitchen, 3 on south side of cook line on floor and 4 under speed rack at cook line.”

“Dead roaches on premises. Observed 2 dead roaches under oven, 2 dead in water heater closet in restroom, 1 dead under microwave and 3 dead at west entrance to kitchen under shelf.”

“Roach excrement and/or droppings present. Behind fire extinguisher sign above hand wash sink at front kitchen entrance.”

“Accumulation of food debris/soil residue on paper towel and/or soap dispenser. Above hand wash sink at west entrance to kitchen.”

“Floor soiled/has accumulation of debris. Cracks and crevices , behind bakery oven, under shelving. **Repeat Violation**.”

Nyema’s Cafe and Lounge at 2100 MIA Taxilot Cafeteria in Miami was inspected based on a complaint. 13 violations were found and the restaurant was ordered to shut on Jan. 18.

 

“Roach activity present as evidenced by approximately 4 live roaches found under front counter steam table and approximately 7 live roaches found under 3 compartment sink in kitchen area.”

“Pots or other cooking equipment not being sanitized. Observed cooking equipment not being sanitized after wash.”

“Live, small flying insects in kitchen, food preparation area, or food storage area. Observed 3 live flies in kitchen area. **Repeat Violation**.”

“Employee failed to wash hands before changing gloves and/or putting on gloves to work with food. Observed employee handling money then changed gloves, engaged in food preparation without washing hands. **Repeat Violation**.”

“Equipment and utensils not washed, rinsed and sanitized in the correct order in three-compartment sink. Do not use dishes/equipment not properly sanitized. Observed cooking utensils not washed, rinsed and sanitized in this order. **Repeat Violation**.”

“No soap provided at hand wash sink. kitchen sink **Repeat Violation**”

Golden Corral at 33525 S. Dixie Highway in Florida City was inspected based on a complaint. Due to 16 violations the restaurant was ordered to shut on Jan. 19.

“Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. Approximately 6 In kitchen oven area, 2 by fryers, one by kitchen reach-in cooler.”

“Accumulation of black/green mold-like substance on/around soda dispensing nozzles.”

“Accumulation of debris on exterior of ware washing machine.”

“Floor soiled/has accumulation of debris. Salad bar area.”

“Grease accumulated on kitchen floor and/or under cooking equipment oven area.”

“Wall soiled with accumulated black debris in dishwashing area.”
