CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) _ A 10-year-old girl born without part of her right arm received the surprise of her life at the Clearwater Aquarium.
First, Annika Emmert of Riverside County, California, met Cozi Zuehlsdorff, the human star of the “Dolphin Tale” movies on Thursday. Then Annika met co-star Winter the dolphin, who has a prosthetic tail.
Then the actress set a cooler next to Annika, who thought it was full of dolphin food. But inside was the real surprise: a 3-D bionic arm. The prosthetic limb was custom-made and decorated with flowers. It was printed with 3-D technology by Limbitless Solutions, an Orlando-based nonprofit run by University
of Central Florida engineering students.
The event left Annika in tears. She says she was surprised when she opened the cooler, thinking `that doesn’t look like fish.’
