Disney to Honor Child Killed by Alligator with Sculpture

Walt Disney World announced that it will honor the Nebraska boy killed by an alligator at one of its Orlando resorts with a sculpture. The sculpture will be of a lighthouse. There is no word yet where on the grounds the work of art will be. The announcement that Disney plans to honor 2 year old Lane Graves comes one year after the tragedy outside Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.

Good news Florida, international tourism to US stronger than expected

More international visitors came to the U.S. than expected in April 2017, according to a new report released Tuesday in Washington. The U.S. Travel Association’s Travel Trends Index shows that international travel to the U.S. grew by about 4 percent in April, compared with data for April 2016. The strong showing contradicted fears that tourism from abroad would slow in reaction to President Donald Trump’s proposed travel bans, which have been blocked by court challenges.

Disney shows a slight decline in attendance last year

Disney parks in North America had slight attendance declines last year due to increased ticket prices, while Harry Potter rides helped Universal show strong increases in visitors. A new report released this week by the Themed Entertainment Association and the firm AECOM says Disney's domestic parks declined by about 1 percent. Despite the declines, revenue was up about 5 percent due to increased guest spending. Disney officials have said they are comfortable trading smaller crowds for higher prices.
