IKEA Recalling Beach Chairs Due To Multiple Risks

The chairs involved in the recall have been sold at IKEA stores nationwide and online at www.ikea-usa.com from February 2013 through December 2016 for around $25.

The recall comes after IKEA received 13 reports worldwide of incidents with the chairs. Incidents include 10 reports of injuries, six of which resulted in fingertip amputations. Of those incidents three, including one fingertip amputation injury, were reported in the U.S.

If any consumer has one of the recalled chairs they are urged to immediately stop using the chairs and return them to any IKEA store for a free replacement or full refund. The replacement MYSINGSÖ beach chairs are labeled with article numbers 703.380.17 and 903.380.16 and contain plastic stoppers that prevent incorrect re-assembly.

Past Recalls By IKEA

IKEA hasn’t had a product recall since November. That recall was of 29 million MALM and other models of chests and dressers due to serious tip-over hazards after multiple child fatalities occurred. Consumers were used to anchor the dressers or replace them immediately.

Before that IKEA hadn’t had a recall since July 2016 when it recalled three different items. Consumers can check for any new or past recalled items on IKEA’s website.
