Two Bradenton Men Charged With Sexual Misconduct Of Special Needs Adults

According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, two men have been arrested in response to an investigation into possible sexual misconduct of special needs adults.

Jeremiah Damsgaard, 25, and David Makynen, 30, of Bradenton were arrested on Tuesday and charged with three counts of sexual battery on an adult victim.

The victims involved in the case are special needs adults and were 25, 29 and 50 year old males. Deputies said Makynen was contracted through the State of Florida to be hired as their support coach. Over the past 12 years Makynen has worked at several group homes.

 

Damsgaard was charged Monday with one count of sexual battery on an adult victim who was also confirmed to have special needs and involved 14 and 29 year old males.

According to the sheriff’s office, Damsgaard had no affiliation with the group homes. Back in November on the 17th Damsgaard was arrested and charged with a count of lewd and lascivious battery on a victim 12-16 years old and four counts of lewd and lascivious molestation on a victim 12-16 years old.

 

Throughout the investigation of sexual misconduct the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office detectives revealed allegations of fraud committed by Damsgaard and Makynen. Those allegations are being investigated by the Office of the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.

All investigations are ongoing and Damsgaard and Makynen could be facing additional charges once the investigation is finished.
