4-Year-Old Left On Daycare Bus

4-Year-Old Left On Daycare Bus With Flat Tire

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office a 4-year-old girl was left behind on a daycare bus that had a flat tire, causing everyone else on the bus to switch vehicles.

HCSO says they received a call Friday morning saying a little girl had walked into the School District of Hillsborough County Transportation building with a lost look.

The caller said there was a white van that belonged to the Orient Road Child Development Center parked in front of the building with the door open and a flat tire.

Erica Donaldson, the assistant director, confirmed to abc action news that the child was from their daycare, and must have been left behind when the bus drove down and the children were switched to another vehicle earlier that morning.

There were a total of four children on the bus when it broke down, three in car seats plus the 4-year-old child, who had fallen asleep in the back seat.

The driver and adult passenger in the broken down bus said they waited 30 minutes for a replacement vehicle to arrive and then moved the infants over to the new van. They didn’t realize the little girl was left behind.

The father of the 4-year-old has already said his child will not attend that daycare anymore after this incident.

“So you leave a child, a 4 year old, in the back of the bus (a)sleep on a broke down bus and then y’all don’t’ realize she’s gone at all until the child is wandering…walking and some man takes her in some building that don’t make any sense,” William Wilkins said to abc action news.

Wilkins also told abc action news that his daughter cried about the incident, but seems to be okay now.

This is a developing story.
