Authorities are trying to figure out why a 12-year-old girl was allowed by her parents to start the family SUV after the girl ended up running over and killing her toddler brother.
It happened on Trafalgar Drive in Orange County Wednesday evening, where the family was getting ready to leave. For some reason, the 12 year old’s parents allowed her to go out and start the vehicle while they remained inside the house.
The SUV managed to slip into reverse somehow, and rolled backwards over her two year old brother, who was behind the vehicle. Paramedics were called and the boy was rushed to Osceola Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. They say the 12 year old will not face charges, but aren’t saying whether the parents will.
