Police Investigate Double Shooting At Jacksonville Landing

Two Shot, One Critically Injured In Jacksonville Landing Shooting

Police say they are investigating a double shooting that occurred at the Jacksonville Landing Monday afternoon.

According to a witness, who was inside at the time, a shooter pulled out a gun and “opened fire on us” with five to 10 rounds, they wrote on Facebook. At least two people were hit and one is critically injured, said police.

News4Jax was able to talk to another witness who said he saw two shooters jump in a white car and head toward Main Street Bridge.

He also said the two victims walked up to a police officer and asked for protection and said it was “fixing to go down.” Gunshots rang out right after that and everyone scattered.

The victim that was critically injured was taken to a hospital in life-threatening condition and the other victim was in non-life threatening condition.

Another source told News4Jax that one person was shot in the doorway near Laura Street, and the other other was shot near a cookie shop at the front of the Landing. The source said the businesses in the area are on lockdown.

The victims are believed to be teenagers and one was shot in the face while the other was shot in the foot, said a source to News4Jax.

Another witness told News4Jax he thought it was fireworks going off.

“There’s a guy laying on the ground with a pool of blood around him and police with rifles out,” Ronald Wallace said. “They were yelling, ‘There’s another victim inside.’”
