“Wayne’s World” Turns 25 And Returns To Cinema

The 25th anniversary of Wayne’s World, the 1992 Saturday Night Live spinoff film, will be celebrated by returning to select cinemas on February 7th and 8th.

In honor of it’s anniversary the film, starring Mike Myers and Dana Carvey, will feature a pre-recorded, post-film roundtable discussion with director Penelope Spheeris, Rolling Stone movie critic Peter Travers and select cast members, the Rolling Stone reported.

The Wayne’s World 25 website is offering a map that lists where the comedy will be screening. Along with the special screening, Paramount Home Media Distribution will be releasing a Wayne’s World double feature via DVD and digital HD on February 14th, said Pitchforks. The film’s iTunes special will include new digital extras like a director’s commentary and making-of feature.

The film stars a pair of rock-loving friends (Wayne and Garth) who host a local public-access show in Aurora, Illinois. In celebration of the anniversary the city will have an expansive celebration running February 3rd through July 4th. “Party On! 25 Years of Wayne’s World” will be including roughly a dozen events, which includes a look-alike contest, air-guitar competition, movie screenings and a doughnut tasting, said The Chicago Tribune.

Those wishing to see one of the select screenings can visit the films website to find the closest theaters and dates and times of each screening. Tickets can also be purchased online.

Wayne’s World was released on February 14, 1992. Written by Mike Myers the film featured big names like Rob Lowe, Dana Carvey and Mike Myers. In the box office the film had a gross amount of $121,697,350  (USA) and to this day remains a favorite by many viewers.
