Police Presence Heightened At Middle School

threat

Lakeland police and Polk County Sheriff’s deputies are on campus at Sleepy Hill Middle School in reference to a threat received Wednesday.

A handwritten note was found at the school from an unknown person that they were going to kill themselves with a handgun today on campus.

As a result, the school district is taking all precautions necessary to keep students and faculty safe.

The note was found folded up in an administrative office at the school, so police don’t know if a student, teacher or parent wrote it because they all have access to this area.

All students and faculty members were “wanded” by school district personnel today.

There will be an increased police presence at the school today.
