Deputy Injured In Pedestrian Accident

This morning around 1:00 AM, a pedestrian was walking northbound on Barclay Avenue dressed in all black.

Deputy Brian Schneider was traveling in his patrol car when he noticed the figure in the middle of the road. He swerved in order to not hit it with the center of his car but the pedestrian was hit by the right fender and side mirror.

Schneider immediately requested that Fire/Rescue respond to the scene to evaluate the pedestrian for injuries and was transported to the Oak Hill Hospital by Hernando County Fire/Rescue, was treated and released, police said.

It was later discovered that the suspect was walking home after drinking at a local establishment.

Deputy Schneider suffered minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.
