Planned Parenthood Gets Congressional Attention

Congress has until the end of the month to pass a bill that will keep the government running, and there is some concern that anti-abortion conservative House members, insistent on defunding Planned Parenthood at any cost, might get in the way.

In hopes of appeasing that group, GOP leadership will be forwarding two bills this week, one that will put a one-year moratorium on Planned Parenthood funding, and another that would add criminal penalties for violating the Born Alive Infants Protection Act of 2002.

Neither would have any chance of getting thru the Senate, but House lawmakers will get to at least make their point. Whether that will be enough to satisfy them is the question.
