The annual Conference of Mayors is in Washington, and President Obama plans to visit and talk to the group on Thursday. Of course the mayors bring a bevy of issues the problems to town, usually involving money, like salaries and pensions, as strapped state budgets lead them to look for funding elsewhere, like from the federal government.
Chicago Mayor Emanuel will be there, who brings his own problems regarding police and the black community. There’s also Flint, MI, Mayor Karen Weaver with her lead tainted water problem. And Black Lives Matter was there Wednesday, protesting both of them.
