Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Speaks in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ The State Department has launched a different sort of raid against al-Qaida, engaging in a cat and mouse game to replace anti-American al-Qaida ads on Yemeni tribal websites.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Wednesday that experts based at the State Department swapped al-Qaida ads on a website bragging about killing Americans with ones showing the impact of the deadly impact of al-Qaida tactics on Yemenis themselves.

She said the U.S. team bought space on the site and put up altered versions of the ads that showed coffins of dead civilians.

She said al-Qaida responded by publicly venting its frustration and asking supporters not to believe everything they read on the Internet.

Clinton described the cyber effort as part of a larger, multipronged attack on terrorism that includes the propaganda battle
