WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says he’s renewing the fight to get individual components of his failed jobs bill passed.
In his weekly radio and Internet address, Obama says he’s going to travel the country telling lawmakers to do their jobs and says congressional Republicans should stop picking partisan fights and act.
Obama made no reference to the death in the Senate of his nearly $450 billion jobs package.
Obama says if Congressional Republicans won’t act, they’ll have to explain to voters “why they’re against common-sense proposals that would help families and strengthen our communities right now.”
Republicans continued their criticism, with California Rep. Kevin McCarthy calling on Obama to come off the campaign trail and get to work.”
He called on Obama to support Republican proposals, not “more Washington spending and taxes.”
