Poll: Cain Tops Romney in Florida Primary

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida Republicans prefer Herman Cain over Mitt Romney in the presidential primary, but Romney does better in a matchup with President Barack Obama.

That’s according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday. Cain received 27 percent support, followed by Romney with 21 percent and Newt Gingrich with 17 percent. The margin of error was plus or minus 4.3 percent.

Overall, 45 percent of voters said they would vote for Romney and 42 percent for Obama. Obama polled slightly better than Cain or Gingrich. The margin of error was plus or minus 2.9 percent.

And 52 percent of voters said they disapprove of the job Obama is doing and 41 percent approve.

Gov. Rick Scott’s numbers were also bad — only 36 percent approve of his performance while 50 percent disapprove.
