Details are tightly held, but President Obama says the overarching goal is to “systematically degrade” ISIS, also known as ISIL or the Islamic State, and ultimately “defeat them,” an objective that officials tell ABC News will take “years.”
He will address the nation as to that strategy on Wednesday night at 9pm ET, after having briefed Congressional leaders of both parties on Tuesday. And Steven will have any new details concerning the president’s plan that leak out by morning.
