Interview: Obama Resists Calls To Visit Border

President Obama met facet-to-face with Texas Gov. Rick Perry yesterday, but despite Perry’s urging, did not visit the U.S.-Mexico border to assess the immigration crisis for himself.

President Obama said he was more interested in coming up with solutions to solve the problem, rather than a photo opp. He urged Perry and his Republican colleagues to get behind a near-$4 billion bill that would go towards providing additional border security, surveillance, attorneys to represent immigrant children and detention centers.
