2016 Presidential candidates early stages

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and his friend, Rep. Paul Ryan, are already considered potential 2016 presidential candidates. And the two Republicans are part of an unusual group of contenders hailing from the same states, making many of their friends and political allies watch and wait.

New York has former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, an early favorite for the Democratic nomination. But New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is also considered a potential candidate.

In Florida, both former Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Marco Rubio are keeping their options open for the 2016 GOP primaries.

And Texas has two Republicans who could launch national campaigns — Gov. Rick Perry, an unsuccessful candidate in 2008, and freshman Sen. Ted Cruz.
