17 States Are Filing Suit Against Obama Over Immigration Orders

Seventeen states, led by Texas, walked into Federal District Court in Brownsville, TX on Wednesday, filing a lawsuit claiming that President Obama’s executive actions on immigration violated his constitutional duty to enforce the laws and placed undue burdens on state budgets.

That second part of course is what would give the states standing in this matter, which you of course have to have whenever you sue somebody.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, who is also governor-elect for the state, led the coalition of states. It will no doubt work its way through the court system, the only question is at what pace exactly.
