World Series Ticket Prices Skyrocket

New York Mets fans have had 15 years to save up to buy a World Series ticket, so hopefully they have a bunch of cash ready: the average ticket sold at resale for the first two games against the Kansas City Royals at Citi Field — Games 3 and 4 — has fetched more than $1,000 on StubHub.

Only one game since the 2012 World Series had an average sold price of more than that: Game 6 of the 2013 World Series between the Boston Red Sox game and St. Louis Cardinals at Fenway. Averages in Kansas City are somewhat lower, probably because those fans just had a World Series in 2014.

As of Tuesday, the most money that has been spent on StubHub so far for a single ticket to the 2015 World Series was a club seat for Game 4 at Citi Field, topping out at $15k. Of course, that price includes unlimited peanuts & crackerjack.
