Texas Professor Quits In Wake Of Shootings

After three shooting incidents at three college campuses, a popular University of Texas professor has called it quits.

Daniel Hamermesh, a professor in the UT economics department, is the first faculty member there to announce he will step down next year over concerns for his safety due to the new Texas state law allowing for concealed handguns on college campuses.

He said the risk that a disgruntled student might bring a gun into the classroom and start shooting at me has been substantially enhanced by the concealed-carry law His surprise announcement adds a new angle to the debate.
