Syria Peace Talks Resume

A new round of peace talks to try and bring an end to the conflict in Syria resumes Wednesday in Geneva.

But escalating violence between the Syrian government and rebel forces have sparked concern, as fighting near the city of Aleppo put more pressure on the “cessation of hostilities” agreement brokered by Russia and the US. Iran said an increase in fighting could harm the political process a day after Russia said it has asked the US to stop a mobilization of militants near Aleppo.

The U.S., which backs rebels fighting Assad, says it’s “very, very concerned” about increased violence and blamed the Syrian government for the vast majority of truce violations. ABC’s Matt McGarry joined us from Beirut.
