Supreme Court Takes Up Immigration Executive Orders

As you will recall from last year, President Obama issued executive orders on immigration that would offer work permits to as many as four million immigrants who have been living here illegally for years.

A Texas judge put a stop to the plan, 25 other Republican-led states have joined in, and at issue is whether the president has the constitutional authority to make such sweeping legislation without Congress.

With there now being just 8 Supreme Court justices, the administration will need to win over at least one from the conservative side, as a tie would go to the previous winner, which in this case would be the ruling out of Texas. The high court hears oral arguments on the case Monday morning.
