Ringling Bros. Elephants Retiring

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus has moved to retire its elephant herd, well ahead of the target date it announced last year. Come May, the longtime staple of Ringling Bros. shows will be a thing of the past. Kenneth Feld, CEO of the company that operates the circus, calls the decision to send the elephants to a conservation center in Florida “the most significant change we’ve made” in decades. In total, 42 elephants will be living at the center.

ABC’s Jim Ryan explains the thinking behind the decision.
