MH370: Possible Debris Washes Ashore

Investigators are trying to match serial numbers from a plane part found washed ashore in Africa with a Malaysia Airlines flight that vanished nearly a year and a half ago over the Indian Ocean.

If matched, it would be the first part found belonging to the aircraft. One source close to the investigation into that missing Malaysian plane says this part appears to be from a Boeing 777.

The Associated Press reported it appears to be a flap from the trailing edge of a wing, which is specific to the 777. Those flaps are movable, and are used during landing and takeoff.
