First Case Of Zika Transmitted In The U.S. By Sex

Health officials in Texas say a traveler to Venezuela returned to the United States carrying the Zika virus and has now passed it on to a sexual partner.

The announcement from the Dallas County Health and Human Services Dept. came a day after the World Health Organization declared a public health emergency because of the rapid spread of the virus across Central and South America. Public health specialists are now urging people to use the same precautions they use to avoid contacting the HIV virus in order to prevent the spread of Zika.

ABC’s Jim Ryan has the latest from Dallas.
