Fat Pets? Blame Takeout Food

A leading British charity is blaming takeout food and booze for a growing obesity crisis … among pets. Veterinary charity PDSA highlighted statistics indicating that more than five millions cats, dogs and rabbits in the UK are overweight.

PDSA blamed the fatty, sugary and downright dangerous treats owners are giving their four-legged friends. It warns a chubby pet might be cute, but many overweight animals develop potentially life-threatening conditions such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes, as well as debilitating conditions including arthritis.

To help fight the pet flab, they’ve again launched their Fit Club competition and have invited owners of overweight and obese pets to take part.
