Drone Hits Plane “On Approach” At London’s Heathrow

A British Airways flight from Geneva was hit as it approached the London airport Sunday with 132 passengers.

After landing, which the plane did safely, the pilot reported an object – believed to be a drone – had struck the front of the Airbus A320. Aviation police based at Heathrow have launched an investigation, and no arrests have yet been made.

This would be a first, and as is the case in the United States, England has had several “near misses” previously, and is grappling with coming up with regulations to deal with the drone issue, particularly near airports.
