Defiant Kentucky County Clerk Faces Judge

A Kentucky county clerk will be back in a courtroom Thursday. This time she’ll be facing contempt charges for refusing to follow court orders and issue gay marriage licenses. She could face jail time or steep fines.

Rowan County clerk Kim Davis says issuing the licenses violates her religious freedom and had hoped the Supreme Court would uphold her claim to First Amendment rights in the matter.

They didn’t.
