Boy Scouts Expected To End Gay Scout Leaders Ban

At their annual meeting last May, Boy Scout President and former defense secretary Robert Gates said that the writing was on the wall, and unless the organization changed the rules on their own, the courts would do it for them. Since then, earlier this month, the Executive Committee adopted a resolution amending the adult leadership standards policy, unanimously.

It allows chartered organizations to select adult leaders without regard to sexual orientation, and on Monday, the National Executive Board meets to ratify the resolution. They made add some provisos for non-paying positions, which would allow church-run troops to pick volunteer leaders who are in line with their world view.
