Drunken Wrong-Way Driver Busted on I-4

Police have arrested a drunk driver seen going the wrong way on I-4.
Just after 3 a.m. Monday, the Florida Highway Patrol says 32-year-old Alejandro Cancel-Montes of Winter Haven was driving his 4-door 2015 Toyota slowly and frequently stopping on I-4 in Polk County near the 42 milepost.

As the Troopers finally came upon the vehicle they discovered the vehicle had turned around and was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes in the center lane of the Interstate with no headlights activated. The Troopers activated their emergency lights, the driver passed them, pulled over to the inside paved shoulder and stopped.

Cancel-Montes was arrested at about 4:40 a.m. and charged with DUI, reckless driving, driving without a license, no insurance, no headlights and driving the wrong way.

He refused to provide a breathalizer test.

Below is a call from a citizen who was on the road at the time calling FHP to thank the officers for executing flawlessly.
