Woman Shot Near Pinellas Park Flea Market

PINELLAS PARK — Authorities are searching for a man suspected of shooting a 63-year-old woman Monday afternoon near the Wagon Wheel Flea Market.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at 2:25 p.m. Monday after the woman, whose name has not been released, pulled into the entrance to the flea market at 7801 Park Blvd. to use her cell phone.

While waiting for an opening to pull back onto Park Boulevard she was approached by the suspect, who pointed a handgun at her and demanded money and her purse.

The man reached through an open car window and grabbed the purse. The woman tried to pull her purse back and the suspect opened fire.

She drove to a gas station at 83rd Street, where she was treated by paramedics for serious injuries and taken to a local hospital.

K9 deputies and a helicopter searched the area for the suspect, who was last seen running north toward the flea market. He is described as a black male between 20 and 30 years old. He is unshaven, of medium height and build, and was last seen wearing a dark shirt, baseball cap and back pack.
