Winter Haven Man Stole Clerk’s Chevy Impala

Winter Haven Police are searching for a robbery suspect who is accused of robbing a store clerk’s car from the Elonka’s Fashions located at 130 Plaza Roadway.

The suspect entered the store at about 4:06 p.m. on Tuesday and walked to the counter where the 80 year-old victim was standing. A short conversation ensued. The suspect inquired about the restroom, but then attacked the clerk hitting her in the head eventually pushing her to a back room area out of camera view.

The suspect beat the victim and demanded to know where her car keys were. When he got a hold of the keys, the suspect tied the victim up and placed a gag inside of her mouth. He then grabbed money from the cash register and stole the in the victims 2009 white Chevrolet Impala. The car has a Florida tag of E57 8ZM.

At 4:45 victim was able to free herself and call for help. Polk County Emergency Medical Services and Winter Haven Police Officers arrived on scene where the victim was in and out of consciousness. She was transported as a trauma alert to Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

At the time of this update, she is in serious, but stable condition.
