Authorities in Middletown, NY, aren’t quite sure why he did it, but on Monday James Rhein rented an excavator and while his wife was visiting the doctor, demolished his house. He didn’t remove any furniture, clothing, or anything.. didn’t even have the gas and electric turned off. And no, didn’t have a permit. Just bulldozed the entire house to the ground. Neighbors got a little suspicious and called the police, who came across the scene a tad too late.
As did his wife, who apparently is still in a state of shock. He’s been charged so far with criminal mischief. The husband says the house had a bad foundation. One could say that about his marriage at this point as well.
