Two Drivers In Fowler Avenue Hit And Run Identified

The Tampa Bay Times</em> reports that two of the three drivers who fled the scene of a traffic fatality on Fowler Avenue early Saturday have been located and identified, the Florida Highway Patrol said Sunday.

Amari A. Williams, 30, of Thonotosassa, was driving a 1985 Chevrolet Camaro west on Fowler, east of Interstate 75, at 3:15 a.m. when he lost control and collided with a sport utility vehicle, troopers said. The impact caused the Camaro to overturn, and Williams was ejected onto the road, troopers said.

The SUV left the scene.

Two passersby, Jason Coffy, 42 of Tampa and Bennie Williams, 52, of Jacksonville stopped to help Williams when two more vehicles traveling westbound struck him, troopers said. Both of those vehicles also fled the scene.

Williams died at the scene from his injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol has not said if it plans to file charges.
