Tickets To Hillsborough Rideshares Over–For Now

Another attempt was made Wednesday to find common ground between the Hillsborough Public Transportation Commission and rideshares Uber and Lyft.

The commission will stop issuing expensive tickets to rideshare drivers for now, to provide time for the two sides to work out an agreement to let Uber and Lyft operate legally in the county.

The transportation commission still insists that rideshares force their drivers to get insured, have background checks, and vehicle inspections—just like taxi cabs do.

Rideshares have been able to sharply undercut taxi fare prices because up until now, drivers haven’t had to pay for any of those requirements.

Uber continues to challenge tickets to its drivers in Hillsborough County in court.
