A 16-year-old boy and a young unidentified female, both passengers on a moped, died after their scooter was struck from behind by a car on North Dale Mabry Highway late Sunday, troopers said.
The driver of the car, Amanda Diaz, 23, of Tampa, fled the scene but was later located at her home, troopers said.
Michael Garcia, of Tampa, a passenger on the moped, was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he died.
The female passenger was struck by a third vehicle as she laid in the center lane and died at the scene, troopers said. She was not identified pending notification of family, troopers said.
The driver of the 2013 Kyoto moped, 19-year-old Cameron Maddox, of Tampa, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital with serious injuries, troopers said.
