Wrong-Way Driver Causes Fatality In Tampa

 

A wrong-way driver traveling northbound on Turner Road in Tampa resulted in the death of a Florida woman Thursday.

Catherine Fleming, 54, was in a 2012 Nissan Sentra was she was struck head on by 21-year-old Eric Sanders. Sanders, driving a 2005 Toyota Rav 4, was traveling northbound in the southbound lane of Turner Road.

Another driver involved, Leon Caines, was traveling southbound when the incident occured. Cains, driving a 2004 Ford Fusion, was unable to stop in time after witnessing the crash and struck the passenger side of Fleming’s car.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Fleming died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

Sanders was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Caines, 25, was not injured. The investigation is still ongoing.
