Wharton High School is now off lockdown, according to Hillsborough County Public Schools. The school went on lockdown Wednesday morning after reports of a weapon being on campus.
Authorities scanned the school for said weapon and found nothing. The lockdown was a precautionary measure as officers searched for the weapon after hearing a rumor that there was one on campus.
The lockdown lasted two hours. Wharton High School is located off Bruce B. Downs Blvd in Tampa.
