Two Arrested In Tampa For DUI, Wrong-Way Driving

The Tampa Bay Times reported this morning that a Florida Highway Patrol trooper arrested two people in Tampa in separate incidents occuring Saturday evening and early Sunday morning on charges of driving the wrong way and under the influence.

Tommy Lorenzo Lane, 39, was the first of the two caught, as he was pulled over around 11:45 Saturday evening. He was driving westbound on a one-way eastbound street and was transported to Orient Road Jail after a field sobriety exercise.

The same trooper responded to a crash around 2:20 a.m. Sunday morning, where a driving going the wrong way crashed into another vehicle head-on.

The wrong-way driver was arrested while the victims suffered only minor injuries and were transported to Tampa General Hospital. Both drivers were charged with DUI and driving in the wrong direction.
