Tampa Police Have New Theft-Prevention Program

The Tampa Police want you to keep your iPod, iPhone or tablet. They don’t want someone with “sticky fingers” to be tempted. In order to prevent that temptation, they are willing to engrave a name and include the words “Tampa Police” on it.

“It really prevents thieves from taking these items because they don’t want to really sell items that have identifiable markings on them,” explains Officer Jarda Bradford, a “crime prevention technician” of the Tampa Police Department in an interview with ABC Action News.

Pawn shops are less likely to buy items with markings causing less incentive for thieves to try and steal them.
