Podcast Promotes Tampa Bay Opportunities
With the rise in technology and the ability to create materials in one’s personal home, making a podcast to advertise for Tampa Bay is just one of the many ways to bring in tourism. According to The Tampa Tribune, a local Tampa Bay named Chris Krimitsos would like to use the popularity of the podcasts “as an opportunity for Tampa to grow its brand as an ideal place to live and work.” In addition, it is said Krimitsos created this into a Florida Podcasters Association. He tells the TBO, “The more people who hear the name Tampa, the more likely they are to come here,”
Despite podcasts being around for several years, it had not become as popular amongst listeners until recently. The Washington Post reports a quote from Tom Webster who works for Edison Research said, “Five years ago, podcasting was very much a hobbyist’s activity and many people weren’t making them to make money.” Nowadays, many people own a smartphone and have the ability to listen to a podcast on headphones or a Bluetooth.
