Gas Line Ruptures During Construction in Tampa

Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a gas leak on East 26th Avenue just east of North Nebraska Avenue at 9:50 Monday morning.

They found a two-inch gas line ruptured due to a back hoe hitting it during construction.

The surrounding homes and businesses were evacuated while crews attempted to secure the leak prior to TECO’s arrival.

TFR’s HAZMAT unit was on scene and the leak was secured at 10:44. There were no injuries.
